1. What types of vehicles do you have available for rent?

2. Do I need to pick up the car from your office or do you offer delivery?

We offer convenient delivery services throughout Kisumu and Kenya. Your rental car will be ready and waiting for you at your preferred location, whether it’s Kisumu International Airport, your hotel, or any other address. We can also arrange pick-up at the end of your rental period.

3. What documents do I need to rent a car?

You’ll need a valid driver’s license (held for at least 2 years), a national ID or passport for identification, and a valid credit or debit card for the security deposit. International visitors should present their passport and international driving permit alongside their home country license.

4. What is the minimum age requirement to rent a car?

The minimum age to rent a car from Teko Auto Hire is 23 years. Drivers under 25 may be subject to a young driver surcharge depending on the vehicle category. All drivers must have held a valid license for at least 2 years.

5. Are your rental rates inclusive of insurance?

Yes, all our rental rates include basic insurance coverage. This covers third-party liability and collision damage waiver (CDW) with an excess. We also offer additional insurance options for comprehensive coverage and to reduce or eliminate the excess amount.

6. Can I drive the rental car outside of Kisumu?

Absolutely! Our vehicles can be driven anywhere within Kenya. Many of our customers rent cars in Kisumu and travel to Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, and other destinations. Just inform us of your travel plans when booking so we can recommend the most suitable vehicle.

7. Is fuel included in the rental price?

No, fuel is not included in the rental price. Vehicles are provided with a full tank of fuel, and we ask that you return the vehicle with a full tank. Alternatively, we can refuel the vehicle for you at current pump prices plus a small service fee.

8. What happens if the car breaks down during my rental period?

Teko Auto Hire provides 24/7 roadside assistance throughout Kenya. If you experience any mechanical issues, simply call our emergency hotline and we’ll arrange immediate assistance. In case of a breakdown, we’ll either repair the vehicle or provide a replacement at no extra cost to you.

9. Can I add an additional driver to my rental agreement?

Yes, you can add additional drivers to your rental agreement. Each additional driver must meet our age and license requirements and must be present during the rental pick-up to provide their documents. There may be a small daily fee for additional drivers.

10. Do you offer long-term rental discounts?

Yes, we offer attractive discounts for weekly and monthly rentals. The longer you rent, the better the daily rate becomes. Contact us directly for customized quotes on long-term rentals, and we’ll provide you with the best possible rates for your needs.

11. What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations made more than 48 hours before the scheduled pick-up time receive a full refund minus a small administrative fee. Cancellations within 48 hours are subject to a cancellation fee. No-shows are charged the full first day’s rental rate. We recommend booking with flexibility when possible.

12. Are there any mileage restrictions on your rental cars?

Most of our standard rentals come with unlimited mileage within Kenya, allowing you the freedom to explore without worry. However, some special vehicle categories may have daily mileage limits. Any restrictions will be clearly stated in your rental agreement before you book.

13. Can I cross international borders with the rental car?

Cross-border travel to neighboring countries requires advance notice and special arrangements. We can facilitate travel to Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda with the proper documentation and insurance coverage. Additional fees apply, and not all vehicles are approved for international travel.

14. What payment methods do you accept?

We accept various payment methods including cash (Kenyan Shillings), M-Pesa, bank transfers, and major credit/debit cards (Visa and Mastercard). A security deposit is required and can be paid via credit card or cash. The deposit is fully refundable upon safe return of the vehicle.

15. Is the security deposit refundable?

Yes, the security deposit is fully refundable. It will be returned to you immediately after the vehicle is inspected upon return, provided there is no damage and all rental terms have been met. The deposit amount varies depending on the vehicle category.

16. Do your cars come with GPS navigation?

Many of our vehicles come equipped with GPS navigation systems. If GPS is important for your trip, please request it when booking and we’ll ensure your vehicle has one. We can also provide recommendations for navigation apps that work well in Kenya.

17. What should I do in case of an accident?

In the unfortunate event of an accident, first ensure everyone’s safety and call the police to file a report. Then contact Teko Auto Hire immediately on our 24/7 emergency line. Do not admit fault or leave the scene. Obtain contact information from all parties involved and take photos if possible. Our team will guide you through the process.

18. Can I extend my rental period?

Yes, you can extend your rental period subject to vehicle availability. Contact us as soon as you know you need more time, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your request. Extensions are charged at the agreed daily rate, and we offer flexibility for our customers’ changing travel plans.

19. Are child car seats available?

Yes, we provide child car seats and booster seats for families traveling with young children. These are available upon request at a small daily fee. Please specify the age and weight of your child when booking so we can provide the appropriate safety seat.

20. How far in advance should I book my rental car?

We recommend booking as early as possible, especially during peak travel seasons, holidays, and weekends when demand is high. However, we also accommodate last-minute bookings subject to availability. Early booking ensures you get your preferred vehicle type and the best available rates.
